Financing Infertility Treatment at Our Chicago, Illinois Practice
Undergoing infertility treatment can be stressful enough without having the extra worry of how to pay for the medications and procedures involved. Although Illinois is one of the few states in the country that currently mandates some level of insurance coverage for fertility treatment, there are exclusions that still leave many infertile couples without coverage. As a partner of Fertility Centers of Illinois, Laurence Jacobs, M.D., is able to offer his patients who do not have insurance coverage a range of alternative options for financing fertility treatment at our Chicago, Illinois-area clinics.
For patients who do not have insurance coverage for their infertility treatment, payment must be made at the time of service. A 5 percent "prompt pay" discount is offered for such patients on all treatments, with the exception of laboratory services. In addition, patients undergoing in vitro fertilization will be offered a discounted package rate.
If you do not have fertility insurance coverage and would like to learn more about financing infertility treatment or the discounts and package rates available to self-paying patients, please contact our Buffalo Grove or Hoffman Estates fertility offices.
IntegraMed®, a nationwide organization of highly respected fertility clinics, offers a special program for in vitro fertilization patients called the Attain™ IVF Program, formerly called the Shared Risk® Refund Program. Take the financial risk out of trying. Depending on the woman's age, IVF can take several attempts before a successful pregnancy is realized. This fertility program offers a way to pay for multiple attempts and also preserve your resources for other options such as adoption if you are not successful with IVF treatment. IntegraMed® has two solutions to help you do just that - the Attain IVF Refund Program and the Attain IVF Multi-Cycle Plan.
Patients who choose to use the Attain IVF Refund Program will pay a fixed fee (based on ages up to 37) for up to a total of six IVF attempts - three cycles with fresh embryo transfers and three frozen embryo transfer cycles. Pay approximately the cost of two IVF cycles upfront and get up to 3 fresh IVF cycles and 3 frozen embryo cycles. If after completing the program, the couple does not succeed in taking home a baby, the majority of the fee (70%) will be refunded. For those couples doing Donor Egg, 100% of the program fee is refunded! Although this is not exactly a method of financing infertility treatment, it is a way to ensure that if treatment is not successful, the money spent will not be lost. Because the majority of patients will succeed in having a baby in six or fewer cycles of IVF, those few that don't succeed can be refunded, providing them with the means to pursue other options, such as adoption.
With the Attain IVF Multi-Cycle Plan, pay for less than two cycles upfront and get up to 2 fresh IVF cycles and 2 frozen embryo cycles at a discounted rate. While this plan does not offer a refund if treatment is not successful, it assists patients by fixing the cost of treatment and providing a discount for multiple cycles. This plan can be used by women over 37.
